Trusting God, trusting in Christ, do you really understand what this means? Most believers, most that say they are Christians don’t know or understand what “Trust in God” means.
When the Bible, God’s Word, speaks of believing, faith, or trust, without exception, it is always speaking of faith in Christ, but specifically more about what Christ accomplished at Calvary’s Cross for us. Irrespective to whether it’s in the Old Testament or New Testament its roots without exception center up on Christ and more particularly the vicarious expiatory work of Christ, His atoning sacrifice. That in fact this is the story of the Bible from Genesis 1:1 through Revelation 22:21.
So regarding trust and faith, the Christian must understand that always one’s object of faith and trust must be in Christ and Him Crucified, 1 Corinthians 2:2, 2:5. As a believer, a Christian, we must not separate Christ from the Cross or the Cross from Christ. Understanding as the Word of God defines “Cross”, as the Power of God, Romans 1:16, 1 Corinthians 1:18, 1 Peter 1:5, as this is the means that the total sin debt was paid by Christ through His sacrifice. His death reconciled us to Him by His life’s blood shed for our sin, Colossians 1:20-21 with gives the Holy Spirit the latitude to work in us mightily, Romans 8:1-2, on a daily basis, Luke 9:23. The believer, the Christian must never separate Who Christ is from that which He accomplished through His death. To separate Christ from the Cross, never meaning two large timbers but that which Christ accomplished. We must understand that Christ is the only spotless, pure, unblemished, sacrifice God would accept, Hebrews 9:14-15. As a believer I am never to separate the Cross, Christ’s finished work from Christ. To do so is to conclude by one’s preaching and by what their faith is anchored in, is not the Christ of my King James Bible, God’s Word, but that of another Jesus, 2 Corinthians 11:4. Also understanding that faith in anything other than Christ and the Cross is sin, Romans 14:23.
This world is full of those who have been taught wrong, who are daily trying to increase their faith by every which way, but that which God has already accomplished through the death of His Son. One does not need to increase their faith, one needs to anchor their faith in the way that God only works and that is one’s faith must be anchored in Jesus Christ and Him Crucified, period, bottom line. Making Jesus the object of our faith without including His finished work, denies the purpose for His coming to this world and the cause of our salvation and victory over the world, the flesh, and the Devil. It is of the utmost importance that all believers understand that even before this Universe was created God knew He would create man, man would disobey Him, would fall, spurn His Word, and man would be redeemed by Christ going to Calvary’s Cross, as God’s Word states, “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the Precious Blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,”, 1 Peter 1:18-20
When I say “God I’m trusting in You”, I’m opening the door to the Mightiest Power in this Universe to work in my life, whatever my situation or my circumstances are as my faith is anchored in Christ and His finished work at Calvary’s Cross.
